Together, we can do it!
|Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Coordinator||Family Liaison and Learning Mentor||Attendance Officer|
|Mrs M Nelson||Mr J Taylor||Mrs B Thakkar|
My name is Michelle Nelson and I am the Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Coordinator (or SENDCo for short!) at Catherine Junior School. I have been a SENDCo for 9 years and this is my first year doing the role at CJS. I am also a mum to three children under ten and my eldest has Autism.
My motto is ‘Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves’. I am passionate about making sure that all of our children can access a broad and balanced curriculum where they can learn to be independent, confident, build good relationships with their peers and enjoy their learning. I want our children to develop their unique talents and be the best they can be through working with the specialist teachers from the local authority and the experts – the parents!
Hi! I'm Mr Taylor, but I'm fondly known as Mr T. I’m the Family Liaison and Learning Mentor at CJS and I work with pupils and families in lots of different ways.
I love to bake cakes, tell jokes and anything to do with Minions. You might see me teaching yoga in school or walking around the playground in my green coat, saying "Good morning!" and checking that everybody is okay.
My room is next to the playground, so it's very easy for you to pop in to say "Hi!", tell me about what a great day you’re having or if you feel worried about something. My favourite saying is "You banana!".
My name is Mrs Thakkar and I’m the Attendance Officer at CJS. I work with Miss Daley, the Education Welfare Officer (EWO), to support attendance. We want 100% attendance for all our pupils – that means being in school, on time, every day! If there is anything that we can do to support your child in coming to school, please come and speak to me in the school office and we will do our very best to help.
